      White curtain gathering tape – 25 mm – 5, 10 or 25-metre roll

      Product description

This white gathering tape from Decoration provides a versatile base for finishing and hanging sheer curtains and drapes. The tape is 25 mm wide and is sewn to the reverse of the curtain fabric along the upper edge. The integrated drawcords make it easy to gather the fabric. Gently and evenly pull the cords until the curtain reaches the required width, then carefully distribute the gathers across the complete length. Would you prefer clearly defined individual pleats? Leave the drawcords unpulled and use Duplo hooks to form the pleats at regular intervals. The same tape therefore allows you to choose between soft, evenly distributed gathers and a more structured pleated finish. The gathering tape is available in fixed rolls of 5, 10 and 25 metres. Before ordering, select the roll length that best suits the total width of your curtain project. This product is sold as a complete roll and cannot be ordered by the metre or in a different length.

      Choosing the correct roll length

Measure the complete upper edge of all curtain panels to which you want to attach the gathering tape. Add these measurements together and include a small processing allowance. Then select the next available roll length containing enough tape. A 5-metre roll is suitable for smaller curtain projects or a few narrow curtain panels. A 10-metre roll provides more tape for several or wider curtains. The 25-metre roll is practical for larger projects, multiple windows, sewing studios and regular curtain making. If you have tape left after completing the curtains, store it in a clean, dry place for a smaller curtain, a test piece or a future repair. This helps prevent unnecessary material waste.

      Using the drawcords

First determine the required finished height and width of the curtain. Pin or tack the gathering tape horizontally to the reverse of the curtain fabric along the upper edge. Check that the tape is positioned at the same height across the complete width and make sure the drawcords remain accessible at both ends. Sew the tape securely in place using a needle and thread suitable for the selected curtain fabric. Do not stitch through the drawcords. For lightweight or transparent sheer curtains, first test the stitching on a leftover piece to check the needle, stitch length and thread tension.Tie the drawcords securely at one end. Then pull them gently and evenly from the other end until the curtain reaches the required width. Carefully distribute the gathers across the complete length. After distributing the gathers, tie the cords securely. Roll up the remaining ends and conceal them behind the curtain. It is best not to cut the cords short, so that you can still adjust the width later.

      Using Duplo hooks

Would you like to create clearly defined and more structured pleats? Leave the drawcords loose and keep the gathering tape flat. Insert the Duplo hooks at regular intervals and use them to form the required pleats. First determine the distance between the hooks on a test section. The selected spacing affects the number of pleats, the final curtain width and the amount of fabric required. Distribute the hooks carefully across all curtain panels to achieve an even result.
