Decoration Paint Silver covers approximately 8 to 10 m² per litre per coat. For a smooth and durable finish, we recommend applying two coats. Actual coverage depends on the surface and its absorption level.

No, Decoration Paint is not officially a chalk paint. Genuine chalk paint has a different base composition. Decoration Paint is of significantly higher quality than traditional chalk or lime paints. A key difference is durability: Decoration Paint is washable, whereas chalk paint generally is not. Thanks to its powdery matte finish, it has a similar appearance to chalk or lime paint — but with far better performance.

The paint is porous, which means grease stains may occur — for example, when used in a kitchen. Our advice? Apply the Decoration Paint “extra matte varnish” as a protective finish. This varnish is transparent, colourless, and provides ideal protection for your painted surface. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Because the paint is porous, it does not protect wood in the way a lacquer would. In this case as well, the “extra matte varnish” is the perfect solution — apply it to provide additional protection for wooden surfaces.

Silver has a beautiful decorative texture and creates a subtle, shimmering silver effect. Because Silver contains metallic particles, it is important to stir the paint thoroughly before and during use. This ensures that the shimmer particles are evenly distributed and gives you the most beautiful result.

For a clear and distinct silver effect, you can first apply a base coat in Mystery Grey or Montmartre Grey. This allows Silver to appear fuller and more refined.

The colour of the surface has a significant influence on the final appearance. On a dark base, such as Cornwall Black or Black Lily, Silver creates a stronger, more pronounced effect. On a light-coloured surface, the result will be softer and more subtle.

Always ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust and grease. Unlike most types of paint, you do NOT need to sand furniture or accessories before applying Decoration Paint.

The paint can be applied with a brush or roller. When using specific decorative techniques, it may be diluted with water or varnish if required.

Unlike most types of paint, you do not need to apply a primer or undercoat on bleeding wood. However, we do recommend applying a solid layer of “extra matte varnish” before applying Decoration Paint. This helps seal the surface and prevents tannins from migrating through the paint layer.
