This original artwork by Nigel Bakker measures 87 x 64 cm. The combination of copper, iron and a robust metal frame gives the work both strength and refinement. No two surfaces are identical; every nuance and discolouration is the result of a natural oxidation process. From a distance, the work may resemble an expansive sea or a weathered rock face. Up close, its many layers, structures and subtle colour variations become visible. Turquoise, azure blue, grey-green and warm rust tones flow into one another, creating a vivid surface that looks different as the daylight changes. Because the work has no fixed representation, every viewer is free to give it a personal meaning. The artwork invites you to pause, look closely and continue discovering new details.

The Artist

Nigel Bakker is the Dutch artist behind NB 3D Art. His work exists at the intersection of art, craftsmanship and material research. Rather than using paint as his starting point, he works with metals such as copper and iron, using their natural properties to create unique surfaces. For Bakker, the material is an active part of the creative process. Through controlled oxidation, colours emerge that have not been painted on, but have genuinely developed within the metal. As a result, every artwork has its own character and can never be reproduced exactly. His works are distinguished by their tactile depth, natural texture and handcrafted finish. The robust metal frame is an integral part of the design and reinforces the industrial, timeless character of the artwork.

Copper Sea works beautifully in interiors where natural materials, tranquillity and refinement come together. With its dimensions of 87 x 64 cm, the work is well suited above a sideboard, in a hallway, study or as part of a carefully curated gallery wall.

The work will be held exclusively for you and we will contact you personally to schedule an appointment at Pot Interieur in Axel. If you purchase the artwork, the reservation fee will be fully deducted from the purchase price. If the purchase does not go ahead, the €50 will be refunded.

1. Is this an original artwork?

Yes. Copper Sea is an original, handmade artwork by Nigel Bakker. Because of the natural oxidation process, every work is unique and impossible to reproduce exactly.

2. Which technique was used?

The artwork is built on a wooden base into which the texture was carved by hand. Copper and iron were then applied and patinated. The turquoise, blue-green and rust-brown tones are created through a controlled oxidation process of these metals.
