Jolanda Wijnand-Vranken

Jolanda Wijnand-Vranken paints from emotion, imagination and a profound fascination with the female figure. Organic forms and emotional depth form the connecting thread throughout her work. Her paintings arise from an inner movement: thoughts and feelings find their way onto the canvas through colour, line and brushstroke.  Jolanda began her painting career with Expressiegroep De Ruif in Elsloo and specialised in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. She further developed her technique through lessons with, among others, Pollie Gregoor, Heidi Lavens and Annehilde Bruining, and attended a masterclass with the Argentine artist Alfredo Garzon The female figure is often central to her work, not simply as a literal representation, but as a bearer of atmosphere, vulnerability and strength. Her forms are organic and flowing, while colour plays an essential role in the emotional experience of the image. As a result, her paintings are not only meant to be observed, but above all to be felt. Jolanda describes her painting process as a form of daydreaming with a brush in her hand. It is precisely this intuitive way of working that gives her paintings their open character: the viewer is invited to discover personal feelings, memories and stories within the work.
