INSPIRATION

Eclectic interior

Eclectic living is all about deliberately combining styles, eras and materials. A vintage find can sit alongside modern art, while a classic piece of furniture can be paired with a bold colour. This interior style feels personal, creative and lively, yet remains balanced when colour, repetition and carefully chosen materials create a sense of cohesion.

COLOURS

Colour palettes for an eclectic interior

Colour connects furniture, art, accessories and patterns that would not naturally belong together in an eclectic interior. With these three palettes, you can opt for soft and personal, colourful and expressive, or dark and artistic, while repetition keeps the overall look from feeling cluttered.

PALETTE 1

Soft & personal foundation

Old White – Cinque Terre – Shabby Pink – Namibian Sand

Old White creates a calm, warm backdrop that allows vintage accessories, art and textiles to stand out beautifully. Cinque Terre adds a muted, natural base to furniture or wall surfaces. Shabby Pink brings a friendly accent to cushions, vases or flowers. Namibian Sand ties together wood, baskets and natural fabrics to create a soft, eclectic atmosphere.

PALETTE 2

Expressive & colourful

Venetian Green – Goethe Yellow – Santorini Blue – Old White

Venetian Green creates a deep foundation that beautifully showcases art, books, ceramics and vintage frames. Goethe Yellow brings light, optimism and creative energy. Santorini Blue adds a fresh contrast in cushions, pots or accessories. Old White keeps the overall look light and airy, allowing the bold colours to remain expressive without becoming overpowering.

PALET 3

Gedurfd, artistiek & gelaagd

Cornwall Black – Medici Red – Black Lily – Gold

HOME ACCESSORIES

Home accessories for an eclectic interior

Home accessories make an eclectic interior feel personal. Choose pots and vases, retro wallpaper, cushions, curtains, art, books, ceramics, vintage objects and special finds with a story. Rather than filling the space with lots of individual decorations, create a few strong compositions. Repeat one colour at least three times throughout the room, for example in a cushion, a vase and a work of art. This creates freedom while maintaining a sense of cohesion.

Ramanda’s tip

"When creating an eclectic interior, don’t start with contrast, but with connection. Choose one element that ties the space together: a colour from a painting, a pattern from retro wallpaper, a wood tone from an old piece of furniture or a fabric colour from a curtain. Repeat that element in at least three places. Then add tension with something unexpected, such as a modern lamp next to a vintage cabinet or a classic portrait above a sleek piece of furniture. This makes the interior feel personal and lively without becoming random."

Create an eclectic interior at home

An eclectic interior gains strength from contrasts between materials. Combine retro wallpaper with understated curtains, velvet with linen, glossy ceramics with weathered wood and matt Decoration Paint with metal or gold details.
Cushions can introduce colour and pattern, but let the curtains bring calm when the wallpaper is already bold. Work with different light sources: a table lamp, floor lamp, wall lamp and focused lighting on art. Warm light helps different colours, pots, vases, books and furniture come together as one cohesive whole.
