Decoration Primer is a transparent, matt fixing agent for porous, highly absorbent surfaces. It helps reduce absorption, isolates various stains that may bleed through and can be added to Decoration Paint to improve flow and extend open time.
Highly absorbent surfaces take up paint quickly. Decoration Primer helps reduce absorption, so you can apply the finish more evenly. It can also be used to isolate stains such as nicotine, soot and water marks. Added to Decoration Paint, it improves flow and extends open time.
Use Decoration Primer as a fixing agent on porous, highly absorbent surfaces such as plaster, plasterboard, filler, brick and concrete. The surface must be dry, clean, free from grease and sound.
The product can also be applied undiluted to isolate nicotine, soot, water marks and other stains that may bleed through. Apply it undiluted to the most prominent stains first, then treat the entire wall. If there are water marks, resolve the cause of the moisture and allow the wall to dry completely before treatment. Decoration Primer does not solve leaks or ongoing damp problems.
As an additive, it is suitable for an even paint finish with Decoration Paint. It is not suitable for Decoration’s decorative paint techniques.
Decoration Primer is a transparent, matt fixing agent based on a water-thinnable micro-emulsion. It can be applied with a brush, roller or airless sprayer. It is dust-dry after approx. 30 minutes and can be overpainted after approx. 4 hours. Drying time depends on temperature, humidity and the porosity of the surface.
Stir the product well and use it within the recommended application conditions: at a temperature of 10–30 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80%. The surface temperature must be at least 3 °C above the dew point. No fixed coverage rate is specified; this depends on the application.
When adding Decoration Primer to Decoration Paint, use 70–100 ml per litre of paint and stir the mixture thoroughly. This dosage is for an even paint finish only. Do not use the product with Decoration’s decorative paint techniques: as a primer it reduces absorption, and as an additive it increases the paint’s flow. This can affect the intended effect.
After using Decoration Primer as a fixing agent, you can apply Decoration Paint directly to it. When added to Decoration Paint, the product helps improve flow and extend open time. Using it as an additive does not replace any surface preparation that may be required.
Use it on porous, highly absorbent surfaces to help reduce absorption. It can also be used to isolate nicotine, soot, water marks and other stains that may bleed through.
Yes. Add 70–100 ml per litre of Decoration Paint and stir thoroughly. Use this application only for an even paint finish, not with Decoration’s decorative paint techniques.
No. A clean, dry and sound surface that is not highly absorbent does not automatically need a primer. Assess the surface before you begin.
First resolve the cause of the moisture and allow the wall to dry completely. Apply Decoration Primer undiluted to the mark, then treat the entire wall. The product does not solve leaks or ongoing damp problems.
According to the technical data sheet, it is dust-dry after approx. 30 minutes and can be overpainted after approx. 4 hours. Actual drying time depends on temperature, humidity and the porosity of the surface.
