Two specially knitted effect cloths for creating cloud-like, marbled and patinated effects with Decoration Paint. Also suitable for use with Decoration Patina and fabric hardener.
Use the Stockinette Effect Cloths to create natural colour variations, cloud-like textures, marbled effects and an aged finish. The cloths are specially knitted for dabbing, distributing and selectively removing Decoration Paint during decorative painting techniques. By varying the pressure, movement and amount of moisture, you can give each surface its own individual character. Before using the cloths for the first time, soak them overnight in clean water. Wring them out thoroughly and fold the cut edges inwards to create a rounded pad with a smooth outer surface. While working, you can rinse the cloths and wring them out again. Always create a test panel first to determine which movement and amount of pressure produce the desired effect. The Stockinette can also be used for patinating with Decoration Patina and with fabric hardener to shape decorative objects. After use, rinse the cloths thoroughly and allow them to air-dry while unfolded. The bag contains two Stockinette Effect Cloths and clear instructions for use.

The Stockinette is used for decorative painting techniques with Decoration Paint. It can be used to create cloud-like colour variations, marbled textures and natural patinated effects.
The colour and product combination you need depend on the chosen painting technique and the effect you want to create. Our decorative painting techniques page explains which Decoration Paint products to use for each technique.
Soaking makes the cloths soft and evenly damp. Wring them out very thoroughly before use. They should feel damp, but hardly any water should come out.
The Stockinette is knitted and then cut to size. Small fibres may come loose from the cut edges. Folding these edges inwards prevents them from leaving marks in your decorative finish.
The complete method is available on our decorative painting techniques page. This page explains which Decoration Paint products you need and how to apply the chosen technique step by step.
