A simple bottle, decorative object or design on a cabinet front takes on a new appearance when you add texture. Mix the powder with Decoration Paint to create a grainy mixture that you can apply with a palette knife, brush or sponge. The visible grains and slightly lighter paint colour give the surface a tactile, chalky character. It is a lovely way to reuse an existing accessory or draw attention to a small detail in your interior.

What can you use texture powder for?

Texture powder is intended for small decorative projects indoors. Examples include bottles, accessories, raised stencil designs and details on a wall or the front of a small cabinet. It is not intended for covering entire walls. When using it on furniture, consider how the surface will be used: a coarse texture is harder to clean and less practical on areas that you wipe down frequently.

Mixing with Decoration Paint

Put some powder in a container and add Decoration Paint. Start with approximately one part powder to one part paint by volume, measured with the same scoop, for example. Paint is required separately; the sachet contains texture powder only. Stir until the mixture is even, with no lumps or dry pieces. Leave it to stand briefly, then check the consistency again. Add a little more paint if needed. The mixture can be firmer for a palette knife than for application with a brush. The ratio is a starting point: adjust the consistency to suit your tool and the effect you want to create. Mix the powder with Decoration Paint. Water alone does not provide enough binding, and mixing it with varnish is not recommended for this application.

How to apply it

Work on a suitable, absorbent surface. Would you like to decorate a glass bottle? First apply a well-adhering coat of Decoration Paint and allow it to dry thoroughly. Test the mixture on a small board to get a feel for its colour, thickness and texture. Apply the mixture with a palette knife, brush or sponge. It should spread easily, without leaving lumps or chunks. Do not apply it too thickly: a layer that is too thick may crack or come loose. For a stencil design, use a palette knife. Spread the mixture through the design and remove the stencil while the texture is still wet.Allow approximately one day for drying. Temperature and other conditions affect drying time. Check that the texture is dry before adding any further finish.

Leave it as it is or add a finish

The grainy texture and slightly lighter colour already create an attractive finish. No further decorative treatment is needed. Would you like a different colour effect? Once dry, you can paint over the texture with Decoration Paint. Decoration Patina creates a distinct aged effect: its brown colour accentuates the recessed areas of the texture.

3. Can I use texture powder on a glass bottle?

Yes, with suitable preparation. First paint the bottle with Decoration Paint and allow this base coat to dry thoroughly before applying the texture mixture.

4. Do I need to paint the texture after it dries?

No. You can leave the grainy finish as it is. For a different colour or an aged effect, you can treat the dry texture with Decoration Paint or Decoration Patina.

5. How much can I cover with one sachet?

That depends on the project, the thickness of the layer and how much paint you add. There is therefore no fixed coverage per sachet. Mix a small amount first to test how it applies.
